Itinerary

Day 1 Moscow

Arrive in Moscow and transfer from the airport or railway station to your hotel.

Day 2 Moscow
Explore Moscow on a city sightseeing tour. Visit the Red Square and the Sofiiskaya Embankment, which provides a superb view of St Sophia’s Cathedral and the Kremlin walls. Discover modern Moscow in the Lenin (Vorobyovy) Hills, which offer beautiful views across the city. In the afternoon you will participate in a guided tour of the Kremlin territory, including entrance to the Armoury Chamber – offering an insight into the life of the Russian Czars. You also have the chance to enter one Cathedral to view the amazing Icon paintings. (B)

Day 3 Moscow-St Petersburg
Transfer from your hotel to the railway station for the journey to St Petersburg (non-escorted on train). Arrive in St Petersburg and transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 4 St Petersburg
With 100 theatres and more than 140 museums, St Petersburg has a well-deserved reputation as Russia’s cultural treasure house. Enjoy a sightseeing tour where you will see some of the city’s highlights including Peter and Paul Cathedral, St Nicolas Church, the Winter Palace and St Isaak’s Cathedral. This afternoon you will travel to the town of Pushkin, home of Catherine’s Palace and Park. The gold and amber rooms and perfectly manicured gardens reflect the opulent lifestyle of the Czars. (B)

Day 5 St Petersburg
This morning you will visit the extraordinary Hermitage Museum, with one of the world’s most
impressive art collections. There are over three million artefacts, including an array of European paintings, antiques and fine arts housed in the former Winter Palace of the Czars. (B)

Day 6 St Petersburg – Helsinki
Spend the day sightseeing at your own pace. Transfer to the station this afternoon where your coach arrangements conclude. Travel by train to Helsinki. (B)

Day 7 Helsinki
Explore Helsinki at your leisure, see the unique neoclassical centre at Senate Square, the Market Square, Sibelius Monument and the underground Church in the Rock. Alternatively, take a boat trip to Suomenlinna, a maritime fortress, or visit Porvoo, Finland’s second oldest town. (B)

Day 8 Helsinki – Rovaniemi
Take a rail journey from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and proceed to your hotel on arrival. (B)

Day 9 Rovaniemi
Rovaniemi is the home of Christmas, and much more! During winter it is one of Finland’s best skiing areas and hosts the International Snow SculptureFestival. It has sparkling clear days in spring and is the land of the midnight sun in summer. (B)

Day 10-11 Rovaniemi – Inari
Catch a local bus further north to the Sami village of Inari, situated on the banks of the Juutua River in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Explore the town at your own pace. Optional activities include a lake cruise, visiting a reindeer farm and gold panning. Snowmobile and cross-country skiing trips can be arranged in winter. (B)

Day 12 Inari – Kirkenes– Norwegian CoastalVoyage
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic minibus transfer. Marvel at the ever-changing landscape and learn more about Sami culture, reindeerfarming, vegetation and life in Lapland. Board your
Norwegian coastal steamer for an early afternoon departure. (BLD)

Day 13 Honningsvag – Hammerfest – Tromso
Sail along a coastline that displays Norwegian nature and scenery at its finest. Arrive at the most northerly town in the world – Hammerfest – before steaming south to the fishing port of Oksfjord and on to Tromso. (BLD)

Day 14 Harstad – Sortland – Svolvaer –Stamsund
Make a morning stop at the coastal town of Harstad before your ship continues through the islands of Vesteralen and the narrow Raft Sound of Lofoten. Continue on to Svolvaer and Stamsund. (BLD)

Day 15 Ornes – Sandnessjoen –Bronnoysund Rorvik
Cross the Arctic Circle, passing the impressive peaks of Rodoyloven, Hestmannen (the Horseman), Lekamoy and De Syv Sostre (the Seven Sisters). (BLD)

Day 16 Trondheim – Kristiansund – Molde
On arrival in Trondheim, you can enjoy an optional city tour which includes a visit to the magnificent 12th-century Nidaros Cathedral. Continue to Kristiansund, a town built on three islands and connected by two modern bridges. This evening, visit Molde, a town of traditional white-painted wooden houses, before arriving in Alesund. Day 17 Alesund – Bergen
Your final day on the ship takes you through the skerries of the West Coast and on to the fjord capital of Bergen. Proceed to your hotel on arrival. The afternoon is at leisure to visit the famous Fish Markets, explore the historic harbour of Bryggen, or take a trip by funicular railway to the top of Mt Floyen for wonderful views of the city. Day 18 Bergen – Oslo
Enjoy your rail journey via Voss and Myrdal to Oslo. This spectacular trip starts at sea level, rises to cross a windswept mountain plateau and then carries you down through valleys, lakes, waterfalls and forests. (B)

Day 19 Oslo – Copenhagen
Spend the morning at leisure. We recommend seeing the Viking Ships Museum, Vigeland Sculpture Park, Kon-Tiki Raft and the polar vessel MS Fram. Commence your overnight sea-crossing with a late afternoon cruise through the Oslofjord en route to Copenhagen. (B)

Day 20 Copenhagen
Arrival in Copenhagen, remainder of day at leisure. (B)

Day 21 Copenhagen
Tour concludes after breakfast at your hotel. (B)
